Apia Marina scheduled to close for repairs

Please distribute to all cruisers in the region intending to visit Apia, Samoa.

A note distributed today by the Samoa Ports Authority informs us that the marina in Apia is scheduled to close on the 11th August 2014 until the 27th August 2014. All vessels are requested to leave the marina, anchoring space in the harbour will be made available.

This is for repairs to Pier A. Note that Pier B has been closed since Cyclone Evan and requires substantial repairs, but no schedule for these has been announced.

The marina has now re-opened. Power and water have been restored to every berth, it now uses the round 3 pin plugs as commonly found elsewhere in the Pacific and NZ (220V 50Hz AC). B arm of the marina is now open for use with approximately 20 berths, A arm has now been dismantled and removed.
