Diving Recommendations

Afternoon Cruisers!
Does anyone have some recommendations for good books on diving on the Pacific Coast, Americas over to South Pacific? Thanks for your input!

Southeast Asia has some of the best diving places in the world. Philippines 7,107 islands, Indonesia 14,000, add islands of Malaysia, Thailand, etc. to the mix and you will have one of the most diverse marine life in the planet. Enjoy it while it lasts though. China claims the entire South China Sea as its own and their huge fishing fleets with their government's support do not respect the 200 mile Exclusive Economic Zone ratified by the UN. Very sad.

Buy a travel guide to the South Pacific. At the beginning of the guide, there is a summary of the BEST diving places. At the end of each chapter/island, you'll find recommended dive sites; I use Frommer's South Pacific, from Amazon.com. Although not all listed information is accurate, it will at least give you which islands to go to. In French Polynesia, the best dives were at the Rangiroa atoll; you need to be at least an Advanced Diver and can handle very fast currents. At Australia's Great Barrier Reef, the best place for diving is Lizard Island; take a boat load of $$$$$, before considering the trip. I know of a few remote atolls that I keep to myself; diving them is a feast to the soul, and I am not sharing their locations. Dive away!
