People, do take a look at Vuda point Marina on Google earth....it is a tiny, circular landlocked basin....and I believe cyclone rated.

I was there a few months ago and my only worry would be storm surge raising the water level inside.

A mate from Fiji sent this update:

"All good here, one yacht at Vuda broke his anchor chain and back up bow line and backed into the Vuda Wall. He was the only yacht out of 50 in the basin so imagine it was gear failure ..... it wasn't so severe in the marina as the tank farms of MOBIL, TOTAL and Pacific Energy broke the back of the wind before it got to the marina.

Also had a large tree fall but the yacht that it fell near had no rig anyway so all good there, cosmetic damage. The thatch on the Sunset Bar is intact, amazing. ..... forgot to take the flagpole down so it buckled and is leaning on the bar roof!


Port Denarau - the new super yacht dock mostly gone and the dock in front of Cardo's is completely finished, one little bit hanging left over only

Must have been blowing if the anchor chain failed. Vuda point told me that they insist boats us marina gear, so I wonder if it was their gear that gave up?
