You sure that's not just down to more onshore winds...

More than 10 million motorists who were “betrayed and misled” into buying diesel cars have been warned that they face higher costs as the European Union puts pressure on Britain to cut air pollution levels.
It comes as Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, announced plans to charge diesel drivers an extra £10 to drive in the capital – a measure that could be copied by as many as 18 other cities.
For more than a decade, motorists buying diesel cars have enjoyed tax breaks because the cars produce lower levels of carbon dioxide and are more fuel efficient.

Now, Britain is being sued by the European Commission for breaching air pollution limits, because emissions from diesel vehicles are contributing to tens of thousands of premature deaths each year.
Senior Conservatives are understood to be lobbying the Government to increase road taxes on diesel vehicles to bring them into line with petrol, although ministers have ruled out such a move in this parliament.

London will follow Paris and introduce an outright ban on diesel cars which are causing "serious health damage" in the capital, campaigners warn.
The Mayor of Paris has announced radical plans to ban diesel cars from the French capital by 2020 due to concerns about how much pollution the cars cause.
Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, is also grappling with the issue of how to tackle pollution from the fuels fumes which contain tiny particles and nitrogen oxides and have been increasingly proven to be seriously damaging to health.

France, which has the highest number of diesel cars on the road, will now ban the cars out right with Anne Hidalgo, the Parisian Mayor pledging "an end to diesel in Paris in 2020".

I do not think this would be peculiar to the US, all around the world governments would have contingency plans and with the latest migrations have them put to test.

That's easy. Stop burning fossils (coal, oil, gas).

Politicians should thus create new rules that directly reduce burning of fossils, not e.g. rules that aim at increasing consumption of wind and solar power.

Since you didn't answer my question, I'll assume you are still without solar power and therefore.... just hand-wringing and blowing cow farts at the rest of us.

And that personal attack is a convincing argument against AGW.

Of course. And this is just what they're saying in public. If you follow the Gwynne Dyer links from earlier: he interviewed some US generals at length, and in those interviews, their depth of concern about climate change and its potential effects is shown to be pretty deep. Just another datapoint that while some Americans may joke and scoff, the adults are taking climate change more seriously.
