Mexico to Oregon

I sailed west of Socorro til the wind went NE. Then I stayed 1,000 miles out till 40 north, so I wouldn't get the northerlies on the coast, then angled in to BC .I left Socorro beginning of April, and it was an easy trip, beam reaching the whole way in light winds, never close hauled.
Several boats were lost in that time, trying to beat up the Baja coast with much easier sailing further out.

Sailing from La Paz/Cabo to Hilo...then to the Strait of Jun de Fuca...leave April 10 this year. I have OCENs weather as well as Max Sea...so I know where the high is. I have enough fuel for 5-600 mi. My question is: should I just take off from Hilo after meeting my wife and re-stocking supplies? Or go to Maui (Lahaina or?). Seems that I would be in the trades, and ready to head North from Hilo. Any comments?
