Blongsea,

I agree that there is often a poor or even negative welcome for dinghies, but you should try going to the Runaway Bay shopping mall in the Southport area. They supply a first class floating pontoon and ramp just outside the entrance to the mall, and DO welcome dinghies or small m/v to tie up there whilst shopping. They even have an area to leave the trollies in!

Cheers,

What's the "no live aboard" rule in Mooloolaba? What's the story? I haven't heard that before.

No permanent living aboard allowed in mooloolaba(at least not in the anchorage in the mooloolah river, dont know about in the marinas),maximum stay is 10 days,,a guy cruises round every now an then recording boat regos to enforce it(don't know exactly which govt dept he's from) the guy i dealt with earlier this year was quite friendly about it,even after i had to leave the boat there for ten days while i went inland for a weeks work.

In short if You're a liveaboard who's cruising through You should have no dramas but if You wanted to live there permanently--no go.

Thumbs up Dingy Parking spot found...

Here I found some spare space on the water that would be perfect for a dingy platform and ladder up to the public car-park. No need to beg and scrape , just tie-up and walk tall like the car-owners do... Jao-hoo
