Ogasawara Islands

Hi there... some friends and I are planning a trip this May to the Ogasawara (Bonin) Islands, sailing from Tokyo and back.

If anyone has done this trip or been to Chichijima, the main island, I'd be interested to hear your experiences.

How was your trip?

I've been to Chichujima a couple times but only by big ship. I'd love to sail there and/or back, given the chance. I also wonder about the feasibility of living off a boat moored in the harbor for six months or a year.

Kanechiwa(sp?) I have been there,wonder why all the interest as of late for places like this, I have never heard of people calling out these places as points of interest till recently, ...DVC
