Palawan Island, the Philippines

Maybe a bit off time and place , but what would be considered the best route from Palawan back to Au(Darwin or Gove)
Was thinking trying to best the AU cyclone season so maybe cruising slowly down the coast of Palawan till Oct or so.
This would be in 2015 .
Does this make any sence at all.
I see there was an article in Cruising Helmsman.
Is it possible to join up with people heading back from the Indonesia Rally.
Maybe I should read up more before asking , but always seems to be someone willing to offer there thoughts.
