Sail from Kiribati to Guam?

Does anyone know the best time of year and route to take? We will make the passage in 2019, possibly June.

We sailed through Kiribati to Guam and on to Japan in 2017 and 2018. In April, two days out of Guam, we diverted to Saipan to avoid TS Jelawat that developed into a Super Typhoon.

June is getting you closer to peak Typhoon season, the trip is safer in March/April.

The Marianas Yacht Club is very welcoming and port control are very helpful. Guam is a US full-service port with excellent mechanics but poor sail repair services. Delivery time from the US for parts is seven days.

The route is just to island hop north and then west.

I'll take a close look at the overall schedule.



We are a peace boat, using the same boat that tried to stop nuclear bomb tests in the Marshall Islands in 1958.


We want to be in Hawaii until at least March 5, 2019. Then the route is probably to Tahiti (French nuclear bombed 93 times), Kiribati (33 British nuclear tests), Marshall Islands (US bombed 67 times with nuclear bombs), Guam, Okinawa, South Korea, and Japan. We want to be in Japan by July 2020 to help commemorate the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.


I guess part of the issue is where to be for the summer hurricane/typhoon season of 2019.
