San Diego to Dominican Republic

I’m planning to cruise from San Diego to the Dominican Republic. I need to be there before June (hurricane season) but I am unsure of weather patterns along the way through central America. I will mostly be marina hopping with a few planned anchorages along the way. My longest stretch will be 450nm. My boat is a Colombia 34mkii. Which is on the small side, so I need to plan the run carefully. When is the best time to leave? Or, better yet when not to leave San Diego?
(I’m especially worried about the run from the Panama canal to Colombia-Aruba-Boca Chica.)

Re: San Diego to Dominican Republic

It depends on how fast you're moving but November is probably the best time to leave, a couple weeks before the haha would be ideal so that if you have any trouble you know a fleet is on it's way. Just watch the weather from there you will be in the dry season all the way down if you time it right. All this stuff is in the cruising guides you should have in hand before you leave.
