Tangalooma Wrecks Anchorage

Tangalooma - I hear it can be uncomfortable.
I think I'll make for the Sandhills, and do the Wrecks as day trips from there. But in the event we want to overnight at the Wrecks - how suitable is it?
What about swing room with the tide?
Anyone give me any hints about where is best to put down the pick for the night?
Mid channel? Nth end? Sth End ?

Don't have current knowledge, used to "a bit tight" but safe enough in any NE to S wind but can very very rolly as current holds you beam to the swell. I used to try to tuck as close as possible to the wrecks IIRC. Hopefully someone will have up to date knowledge

Tangalooma rolly and overcrowded

Hi all

have been going to Tangalooma for most of my life. Over the years, with further development of the resort and private residences on the hill, things are really deteriorating. Oh, and the neverending four wheel drives and increasing shipping traffic.

In terms of anchoring, it's good holding in the sand, however, it's so crowded most of the time, it's in very tight quarters, and one is just about on top of the next boat. At night, you get a very significant swell coming in from the shipping channel.

It's still a beautiful place, but very busy unless you go over on a week day.

Cheers
