Tidal Stream Strength - Moreton Bay

Noticed 1.5kts stream at peak flow mid bay via nav system real-time analysis on the weekend. This seemed to drop to 0.5kts by mid phase. Too busy to notice the stream at intermediate times.
Has anyone logged the actual flows vs time?
I'm thinking of just plotting 1.5kts and putting that as the peak on the tide sine wave and using that as a rough guide?

I'd also be interested in any data people have on flows around the bay and if there is much local deviation from the "flood south, ebb north" model.

Any local experience most welcome

I've spent some time in the bay and broadwater but never did any electronic logging. However it seemed to me that it was a lot about where you are (specifically) and which tide. The flood is fast in one place and the runout in another. I think your 'rule of thumb' may have to do but if you get close to any channel or south passage it could get tweeked a little.

If you ever got that info tidied up... I suspect it would be made obsolete in short order.

Talk to some of the 'old salts'. A few years ago, a crew of average age 78 ended up winning WAGS in a mottle - partly because they knew the Bay and how the tides affect parts of it on the WAGS course. They also knew a lot about sailing. But the point is there is knowledge , but not writtten let alone PDF form.
