Victoria - Best Place to Anchor or Slip

Hi to all my northern nieghbors...
I have a family that wants to do the tourist thing (cheapy) on Vancover island. I volunteered to sail them over and be thier hotel while they look at all the sights. Question is that I have never anchored out in Victoria- where would be the best (read friendly and cheap) place for me to go?

There is no anchorage inside Victoria Harbor. Head in toward the Empress Hotel and take a guest slip on the wharf directly in front of it. Great place to see the sites and people of Victoria.

Also super expensive, and really not great service though the location is fabulous.

Can anchor in Cadboro Bay, but you are out of the town, and access not that easy.

I think it is a C$1.30 a foot. That actually makes for a pretty cheap hotel room if you have 4 people on board. Either way, it is in the heart of Victoria.

I called them Paul- They want 2.85/foot for the Ca day weekend and 1.85 otherwise. I am thinking of anchoring in Sidney and taking the bus....

You may have phoned the wrong place, check out this:

Greater Victoria Harbour Authority

It's worth the money compared with bussing from Sidney.

Thank you for the link. I don't know who I called, but they were sure of the rates. The Harbour Authority sounds a lot more reasonable. A little over 50 USD for a slip, and right next to customs! Got to love it.

i was actually quite surprised when i got here was very easy to get into they have lots of transient slips available just called up victoria harbour authority on 66a they directed me into the required slip. at first i thought it might be pretty noisy here but at night its not to bad at all.
