You can transit further north beyond that marina at least as far as Rocktram, and even further to Napa City itself if you're a risk-taker. The southern reaches of the Napa River (but north of Mare Island Strait) are very broad but for the most part very shallow. Stick to the somewhat-poorly marked channel. Channel depths per the charts appeared very close to actual when we transited there last month. Simple if you have GPS and electronic charts as long as you pay attention to them. There are decent spots to anchor, but you won't be close to facilities unless near the Napa marina in the upper reaches or the Vallejo marinas or public ramp in Mare Island Strait.
