Re: Voyage report, Ecuador to Chile - or 3000 miles to windward plus a bit.

Looking at a boat in Valdivia? A cat maybe?

I've gone north from Valdivia/Montt three times. Always seem to get Nlys near Isla Mocha. Southbound always seem to get Slys near Isla Mocha. Once north was just to ConCon/Vina del Mar. Other two times were to Antofagasta. Good easy sailing apart from Isla Mocha.
Cleared out of Chile from Antofagasta twice, once to Ecuador, other time was to FP. Trip to FP was easy peasy, just a bit light for the first few days until we got out of the grip of the 'Arica High'. Probably easier than from Panama.
Iquique is a better port than Antofagasta but a little deeper into the Arica High.
You know my views on Easter Island.

Also read a lot of caution of Easter island, yes

To be honest, I have little issue with light wind, or interest in traveling south america any more than to head offshore from the best place

I like the idea of easy peasy as much as I can get!

Any recommendations of good riggers / sailmakers / surveyors in or near valdivia?
