West Coast of Central America

Hi All.....

Our journey starts in June when we leave Ladysmith, BC and head north around Vancouver Island. ETA Uclulet, BC mid August to head for places south in late August after any repairs. Ensenada for October, Baja and Sea of Cortez.

We are planning to head south from Mexico (Sea of Cortez) along the coast of Central America. Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Columbia Ecuador and Peru, then making the hop to Easter Island.

This will be our first trip on Stone Age for anything major.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Times and conditions. Anyone who's done it or good reasons to stay away from places.
Cheers!

Best of luck. We are leaving in June but are going to stay "around here" for a year (W Coast, Queen Charlottes, etc).

Friends of ours left Bamfield last year if you want to read an account:

We'll be leaving about the same time from San Francisco... we're going to hang out in the islands of southern california for a while and then do the Ha Ha to Cabo..
Being it the first for "Stone Age" maybe the Ha Ha is choice you might want to think about. Its a few miles down to Cabo without services, and the Ha Ha would asure you of having support on the trip.. Think its planned for late in October..

Thanks Randy.. We just might take that in. Sure sounds like alot of fun. I know the season isn't quite right to head to Cabo before mid Oct.. We were kind of wondering what to do in the interim..

Please PM more info about the Ha Ha.

Cheers.

North then South

Cruising now...heading South to Mexico in October. Doing the San Juan's and Desolation Sound this spring and summer to shake things down. Looks like we're going to be heading South about the same time you all are...if all the parts are working.

Stone Age-
We made that trip cruising from Portland, Oregon, to Columbia and then into the Caribbean and east coat of the US/Bahamas from 1992-1996. It was a wonderful journey then, and I'm sure still is. I started a blog a short time ago, to chronicle our journeys from letters I sent home. Perhaps you'd find it informative, although many things have changed since we did it. Enjoy the anticipation and preparation. It's a terrific dream!

We made the trip from Seattle-San Diego-Cabo San Lucas-Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. Started in August of 09, did the Haha and really enjoyed it. The pace for the Haha doesn't allow for much independent exploring but it gave us a 'date' to cut the lines and we met so many amazing people that we still keep in contact with. See our blog at Voyage of Rocinante.
Smooth sailing, safe and fun
