All this talk of Phuket had me looking at Google Earth.I was in Phuket in 1985,that was before the developers moved in,i stayed in a wooden hut on Niharn bay.The only boats were the dugout canoes,the place had a few wooden bars but nothing of brick and concrete.

what a way to waste Paradise

At the risk of some thread drift, I wonder how this thread ended up in the Indian Ocean and Red Sea section The last time I checked, Phuket is a thousand miles or more away from there.

Phuket is in the Andaman Sea which is in the Indian Ocean - presume that is why the CF Admin placed it there - the forum is after all to do with cruising the seas and oceans. Otherwise it is often geographically placed in South East Asia.
