Drive to Louisiana. Golden Meadow, La Rose, Port Fourchon...You’ll have work on the spot. Same day hire. Really good money.
The manatee crew.

Re: 200 ton USCG captain, looking for work

Here are some choices other than the oil field which I’ll comment on last.
Private Yachts. Lauderdale. Easy hire. Incredibly boring work. You work for horrible wages and very rude people. Huge turnover. See Dock Walk.
Offshore Wind. New guys on the block pay so low you can get more driving a cab.
Federal jobs. Are you a Native Alaskan? If so great. Otherwise hard to get hired.
Antarctica. Actually fantastic pay, excellent work.
UNOLS. Oceanographic. Very difficult to get hired but a perfect job in all ways.
The pay in the oil field is very high. Just stick with a major company and avoid smaller boats. The work is dangerous if you don’t pay attention but it’s fascinating. I worked 200’ lift boats, Mini Supply and big Utility. Huge, new beautiful vessels. You occasionally get a bad co captain but they’ll let you switch boats if you know your job. I loved the Acadian people and the work. My wife just could not take the heat and we wanted to build a boat somewhere cooler.
Only Antarctica pays more.
PM me when you get closer to a job offer.
Captain Mark

I have made a good living as a delivery captain sail and power.

Just spent all summer in alaska driving a 115 private yacht, and then a 128 ft king crab boat converted to a 12 pac cruise boat.

So you’re looking for customers, not advice.
