Crew Available: Desires to crew Trans-Atlantic passage

I am a 75 yo retired, healthy, male physician with extensive coastal sailing and cruising experience. One of my lifelong desires is to complete an off-shore passage with a capable captain and well fit boat. To accomplish this safely on my own at my stage of my life is too daunting but I would welcome an opportunity to sign on as crew. I can offer more than sweat equity to make this happen.

I was in a similar spot (desiring my first crossing) and finally found an opportunity on Crewbay that was a good fit for me. In addition to here you can also try Ocean Crewlink and Crew Seekers both of which are subscription but have a decent number of people looking for crew including positions which you pay a fee for.

At this time of year you have a number of ARC boats which are looking for crew - some of which are well planned and some pretty last minute.

I'm 65, about to turn 66. Next year I'm planning to head off, likely Azores first, then Europe. I'm on an excellent Blue water boat that most here would not recognize, it's a European boat. For those with interest, it's a Belliure 41.

I'm in the Chesapeake at the moment which will be my starting point. I've sent you a PM, we'd have to see about if mutual interest exists.

There are other sailing organizations that keep lists of available crew to help them find captains. Try the Salty Dawg sailing association, the Ocean Cruising Club, the World Cruising Club, the Seven Seas Cruising Association, and the Cruising Association. There is also findacrew.net. Good luck!
