I wish it were true. I think that rational people really have no idea how utterly ignorant, superstitious, and illogical many people can be. We see it every day in so many realms.

If you can circumnavigate Antarctica at 8 knots, and in under 2 1/2 months, then you couldn't have sailed round near the edge of a disk Earth. Indeed, if you sailed from South Africa to Australia to Patagonia and back to South Africa in under 3 months, the same would apply.
But, as I said before, flat-earthers have tried a few meaningful experiments, all of which proved them wrong and they still didn't accept the rational conclusion. Another one was a laser shining across the lake. With a very precise level, they set the source on the shore. The line could immediately be seem on the opposite hillside, several hundred feet off the water. As their boat went out, the laser had to be repeatedly adjusted downwards until the curvature of the lake got in the way.

For people to invoke uncertainty regarding quantum theory, gravitation, etc. to somehow analogize that to support ambiguity regarding the shape of the earth is kind of bonkers. Is that where this thread is going?
Flat earthers are crackpots, frauds, or mentally ill. Period. What more is there to discuss?
The original post was just a tongue in cheek poke with a stick. It is the same as going to the minister preaching that s/he knows that the earth will end on a certain date and asking them to please sign over all their worldly possessions to me on the day after that. Fun to watch them squirm, but doesn't change their delusional belief system.

I actually know a flat earther. Super nice guy, give you the shirt off his back. But all discussions on this subject quickly go south. I'm not sure I'd want to be couped up with someone like that for a RTW trip.

They are irrational/impervious to evidense, there is no point in any experiment or demonstration, hence my comment "unless you want to make the voyage anyway, you won't be able to provide anything that they will accept as proof" If the OP is just looking for sponsors of the voyage, then take advantage of the idiots, go ahead. Just get the cash up front !
Land on Antarctica too, to prove that there is no police or army there to prevent exploration (as THEY claim there is).

When THEY start out saying "this will conclusively prove our point", then it doesn't, and they have no explanation for the result, what is the logical conclusion ?
