Re: Moving from Oz to NZ with my dog

Wait! People saying Ann Cate (with a C not a K) was not being polite. I've never read anything she's ever posted that would be considered snippy, she comes across as one of the nicest people I'd ever want to meet. If you want to see impolite then post your question on SA and see what you get. And yes you can take this posting in the manner it sounds like because that's how it was intended.

Re: Moving from Oz to NZ with my dog

Thanks for the kind words, AKA-none. I probably should have spent more energy, talking about dogs on boats, especially large ones.

Probably, in retrospect, the kindest thing for Bee, is to explain why a 29 kilo dog, unused to sailing, would be a difficult passenger, from the point of view of the skipper.

Without going into gruesome detail, it is true that a landlubber pet may get motion sick, my malemute did, and then would not be fit as crew on a small yacht. Period. To say nothing of the hair! Besides that, dogs' long, tough claws, will make a mess of one's cabin sole, plus, the poor wee beastie, she slides around and is terrified. To subject your beloved pet to what would await on a small yacht, sorry if this offends, but imho, it is true, would be extremely inhumane.

Ann
