I got my shot, I'm still waiting to grow two heads. But I figure if that happens then I'll just be twice as smart.

Please tell me you are joking! Just had another person I know who was unvaccinated die.

There are teams of data that support the vaccine. And a handful of less competent denying it.

Even Donald Trump got the vaccine! I am exceedingly confident no one forced him to take it… …

Of course you could take horse dewormer— that is MUCH safer.

Regarding heading down at that time of year- it is probably safer than being unvaccinated.

Sorry. Should have inserted a couple of smiley icons to indicate humor or sarcasm.

I do have a close relative who really believes that but that's only a small part of her mental issues. The whole case is quite sad.

There are vaccinated that died of the vaccine, or worse - suffer and are disabled for the rest of their lives. You don't see this reports on MSM...

Re: passage Ct.east coast to florida

I’d discard The UnHerd reference as a disinformation site. Hardly a scientific journal.
As for those other two links, they both refer to the same study. The author of the study is quoted as follows in both:
“What's concerning is there is a subset of the population that's got strong levels of hesitancy, as in refusal to take the vaccine, not potential concern about it, and the size of that group isn’t changing,” said Mejia.
…. “I remain concerned about reaching the most hesitant subgroup of Americans,” said Mejia. “The only way to end this pandemic for real is to get enough people vaccinated that we can reduce the speed of new variants spreading.”

Links? Proof?

Statistics matter…. More unvaccinated die than vaccinated.

More unvaccinated die than have issues with vaccine.

I do not work for or with unvaccinated—- I am just playing the odds.

Quite correct BUT the number that have died from the vaccine are miniscule compared to the number that have died from Covid.

Bottom line, it's all about odds. The odds of getting Covid and/or giving Covid to your family or friends vs the odds of death or even a serious side effect from the vaccine are tiny.

suppose you are given a choice. Enter door #1 and you have a 1 in 10 chance of death. Enter door #2 you have a 1 in 1000 chance of death. If you make no choice you default to door #1. Which one do you pick?

Reading these posts is actually educational on sailing AND entertaining too! Thanks Snore and Skipmac you're so correct and calmly braving the falsehoods. As for the OP, my issues with him as a sailing partner are the apparently suicidal attitude of “I know best”, but also the evidence of “because I said so” attitude when asked to provide a reason for his unusual criteria. Someone who can’t accept constructive inquiry makes for a dangerous sailing partner.

That sounds like “Pascals Wager” except door 2had zero downside and door 1 had infinite downside.

The OP is asking for crew not a report on COVID Vaccines. Leave the guy alone, its his boat and his opinion. You are not going to change his mind. (FYI I am vaccinated).

The odds are similar, you'll die anyway at the end.

Healthy people die from vaccines, people with preconditions die with or on the virus. 99% survive an infection, 95% are asymptomatic, that is good enough efficacy of unvaccinated for me.

Well no, actually the odds are dramatically different. Here's a couple of numbers.

Total deaths in the US from Coved 652,000

Total deaths in the US from vaccine. Difficult to say exactly. CDC tracks everyone who died from any cause after receiving a vaccine. That totals 6,200 people. Of that number only 3 were 100% confirmed to have died as a direct result of a reaction to the vaccine. Even if you say 100% of those deaths were from side effects you have:

652,000 vs 6,200. Think I'll take door number 2.
