Punta Gorda area help needed

I am in the process of buying a 1997 Catalina 28’ Mark II and currently live in Pensacola. I am lining up survey and Sea Trial and was hoping someone in that area would be available to be a pair of second eyes on the boat with me. I have been sailing for 20 years and previously owned a Benateau 350. However as a woman (now retired Nurse) doing this by myself is a bit overwhelming. My sailing buddies are not able to take time off to accompany me. I am hiring a Captain to bring her to Pensacola, I will be onboard. Just hoping a friendly sailor could help if they are in that area.

Congratulations on the new boat. If no one is around. Could the captain your hiring give it a look? He will want to assess it anyway before sailing her.

Thanks, that is a great idea, I haven't lined up Captain yet so I will include that when we discuss the transit.

Hello Donna, check out the Catalina 28 owners group -https://groups.io/g/Catalina28
there is a wealth of information available, we have some members in the Punta Gorda area and you may be able to get information about the specific boat you are looking at if you have the hull number.

Hi DonnaMP
My wife and I are currently in PG and would be glad to help. We’ve owned a Catalina 25 of earlier vintage, but spent 7 years living aboard a Manta catamaran. Let us know your timeline.
