Crew Available: Seeking Experience in Phillipines and South Sea Before Heading West

Hi folks,

Unfortunately my phone (only device available to me) does not support the search feature, so forgive me if a relevant thread already exists.

I have recently become very interested in sailing for a number of reasons which I can detail in PMs rather than here and am currently seeking to begin sailing around the Phillipeans (appears to be the best way to experience them) and sail back to the peninsular in the next few weeks. I have no sailing experience, simply a willingness to learn and am currently teaching myself basic sailing concepts and all the essential knots.

I'm also interested in sailing West 'toward home', which is the U.K. but would like to do this by travel through Africa eventually. I am aware however that it is a pretty big crossing from South East Asia to Africa to undertake without prior experience and quite literally, testing the waters, first.

I'm highly aware that this is possibly a niché ask on short notice! But, he who does not ask...

I'm in the Philippines now. IMO sailing south of cebu city is too risky with possibility of kidnapping etc. Plenty of info online.

Thanks for the heads up Larry. I'll do some research a out that. But as long as the skipper isn't a nutter who stubbornly ignores the most dangerous areas I don't want to let that put me off the whole enterprise.
