Crew Wanted: Skipper to help sail from Spain to UK

Hi, we are hoping to finalise buying a catamaran based in Spain but would like to bring it back to the UK to get work done over winter.

We have some experience but are looking for a registered and experienced skipper to help us with this maiden voyage in August or September.

Any suggestions welcome.

If coming from the med then if possible do it in August not Sept, autumn gales can close all the ports along the Portuguese coast

I would agree SW gales start from mid August and are not conducive to a maiden voyage. Might consider Cabo Vincente to Azores then more favourable winds to UK.


Why not haul out in Portimao, pleasant weather over the winter that would allow work. Excellent services and supplies there too.

Positive. Better start early and wait for a window than start late and be chased by N Atlantic autumn gales.


Cabo Vincente to the Azores is a bad plan.



Go early, if you can.
