Crew Wanted: Summer Job Opening - Sailing Instructor

Sailing Instructors/Skippers lead summer live-aboard diving, sailing and marine science programs in the Caribbean aboard 40-55 ft. catamarans and monohulls. Programs run from May to August based out of Saint Martin.

Skippers sail a yacht and teach basic sailing skills as they guide middle or high school students on an adventure through the Caribbean. Skippers are paired with another instructor and supervise students 24/7, facilitate group dynamics, assist students with cooking and cleaning duties, support scuba training and other program activities. Depending on the program, skippers will be paired with a marine biologist, dive instructor or first mate. Students and instructors live aboard the yacht for the duration of their program.

Broadreach is an IYT (International Yacht Training) partner school and offers courses from “Introduction to Yachting” to “Bareboat Skipper”.

Qualifications
- Licensed US Coast Guard Captain, Yachtmaster or equivalent experience.
- Comfort operating a yacht over 45 feet, including standard operations, and anchoring/mooring in tight anchorages.
- Understanding of basic yacht and diesel engine maintenance.
- Experience in multi-day sailing trips/deliveries/chartering.
- Passion for mentoring and motivating students.


Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching sailing to youth is preferred.
- Previous experience working with teens and young adults preferred, especially in a summer camp/ 24/7 setting.
