Crew Available: True Story

I have subscribed to this site for but a short time and read MANY an interesting tale.
This reminded me of an episode in Australia nearly 30 years ago whilst sailing up the east coast tof Australia hat I've wanted, but never have, to follow up.

Does anyone out there know of a vessel named True Story that was in trouble some time in 1988 off the east coast of Australia ?
Would love to hear from anyone with any info at all.
