December is way too late to get out if the weather is deteriating as it was. It was not an overnight blizzard that trapped them.

There were dozens (if not hundreds) of fossils intermingled with stone; shark's teeth mostly. Logic (not that the GW folks ever apply logic) would dictate that at some time in the past, the water was at least 20' deeper than today. Some time in the past could be quantified by a geologist by the 50' of material over the fossils, however I digress..... The Earth had a lot more oceans back then, which again means (to me) that it was warmer.

My inlaws are Canadian. Much of the rocks in their town bear marks... glacial marks. I've seen the same marks on rocks in the Carolinas.... CRAP, the Earth must have been MUCH colder then.

Layman's Hypothesis: The Earth warms and cools; been doing so for a lot longer than this civilization has been here.... so either this cycle is natural or outside the ability of man to create, OR....... there was another civilization of intelligent beings who farted up the atmosphere with their space ships and caused another damnable warming period.

Layman's Conclusion: Global Warming Caused By Man Is A Hoax
And of course if you can't get this published in a peer-reviewed journal, it means there's a conspiracy to silence opponents of AGW.

I've been published in Playboy... does that count? Playboy has been reviewed by thousands of my peers

"Of the 26 we were able to identify in various databases, 11 said they still agreed with the petition —- one was an active climate researcher, two others had relevant expertise, and eight signed based on an informal evaluation. Six said they would not sign the petition today, three did not remember any such petition, one had died, and five did not answer repeated messages. Crudely extrapolating, the petition supporters include a core of about 200 climate researchers – a respectable number, though rather a small fraction of the climatological community."
Sneuman! I'm devastated. You've used obsolete data.

Horsepucky. That's the middle of the melt. Antarctic sea ice extent in late December is around 9 million square kilometers. It continues to decline to around half of that by late February.

Well that brings a whole new meaning to " peering at Playboy ". There was silly me thinking it meant something else.

I'm laughing that this thread even exists.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot does it have to do with sailing?

You won't be saying that so smuggly when your favourite anchorage becomes too deep to anchor in.

Myself, I look forward to anchoring in new and exciting places as the seas rise.

But in your case, it was data that was outdated.
