well your link is trying to tell a lie.
The top temperature was 23.8℃ not the 21℃ that was just reached for a brief period when A strong upper-level region of high pressure situated over Greenland spilled into the Arctic Ocean, but that isn't the only necessary ingredient. This type of atmospheric blocking pattern is responsible, but a strong southerly flow allowed the surface temperature to have minimal influence from the relatively chilly waters of the Arctic Ocean.

The record temps are from listings in wiki https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alert,_Nunavut

Time to learn what a humidex is. It is a Canadian concept.

"The humidex (short for humidity index) is an index number used by Canadian meteorologists to describe how hot the weather feels to the average person, by combining the effect of heat and humidity. The term humidex is a Canadian innovation coined in 1965.[1] The humidex is a dimensionless quantity based on the dew point."

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humidex

The first on the table in your link is the humidex.

You need to look at the next line on the table for the record high temperature; 20C

jack I know what the heat index is and it was not the Canadians that came up with it .
Btw please tell me how an isolated weather event caused by jet stream wander caused by solar minimum has anything to do with the fast ice in the western part of the archipelago?

You do know that sea ice melts mostly from below right.

Go ahead and keep cherry picking. That ice chart was from 8 days ago. Things happen quickly this time of year although there is not denying that the passage isn't open yet. It wasn't expected to be open yet.

I'm having trouble deciding whether you really believe what you espouse to believe of if you are trolling?

Humidity is the amount of water vapour in the air. High humidity makes people feel hotter than they would on a drier day. This is because the perspiration that cools us down cannot evaporate as quickly in moist, saturated air. To better describe how hot it feels in such circumstances, Canadian meteorologists developed the Humidex, a parameter that combines temperature and humidity in order to reflect the perceived temperature.

The jet stream meander is NOT caused by a solar minimum.

These papers were published shortly before the maximum of solar cycle 24.

yes I know the ice report is not from today but it is the most current from environment Canada I'm waiting for a new report. As well.

Here is a video you should watch to explain the" odd weather " that is being experienced all around the planet.

https://youtu.be/6R26PXRrgds

Btw they are experiencing record cold in the southern hemisphere. And eastern Russia

You have never been able to provide any credible evidence for your harebrained assertions.

BTW - Can you at least admit you are wrong about Alert record temperatures? Have you learned the difference between a humidex and a temperature?

Re: Northwest Passage

Some light reading for you two:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milankovitch_cycles

There is an ice age coming, about 30-35000 years.

Buy stocks in spade and ski manufacturers.

I know. I am selling glacier insurance to the believers in the upcoming Grand Solar Minimum.

jack not a single credible source doesn't admit that we are looking forward to a grand minimum .
They just have differing opinions on the effects and outcomes of it

That double negative makes no sense at all.

Valentina Zharkova is predicting 35 years of natural cooling followed by 600 years of natural warming. She does not say how much natural cooling but predicts 2.5 °C of natural warming by 2600.

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-019-45584-3

Zharkova accepts that CO2 induced AGW is occurring and that the "GSM" just might give us more time. Add the AGW warming to the natural warming and we have a serious problem.
