1981 Hunter 27 for first boat?

Hi, I'm new to cruisers forum and boat ownership as well. I have been sailing with family for a few years on a small 20 hunter. I love sailing and I am in the market for my first boat. I'm kind of torn as to what size to get.

I live in Toms River NJ and will be sailing the Barnegat Bay which has a lot of shallow areas as well as some decent channels. I know myself well and think I am going want to do some day trips out the inlet for some light ocean cruising.

Do you think a 27 with a 4' draft is going to be a pain in the bay? I am used to a swing keel and never been on a boat with a fixed one? I'm really handy some I'm not afraid of a project.

This particular Hunter has some light cosmetic damage from Sandy but nothing major..
What do you guys thing about these Hunters?

Any advice for the new sailor? Thanks!!
