41 Islander Freeport halyards

I am purchasing a 1979 41' Islander Freeport and need to know if any other owners out there have replaced the halyards. To replace the wire to rope halyards, do the sheaves need to be replaced to handle a larger diameter rope or are the sheaves wide enough and should not need replacement? Any comments would be help.

Re: 41 Islander Freeport halyards

You probably need to go up and look at the sheaves. They could be setup as wire /rope style... or not. Hard to rely on any two boats being the same....
