Alliage Aluminum Sailboats - Any Experience ?

I am in the market for an aluminum sail boat and I have come across the French built Alliage.

As opposed to an Ovni boat, very little information is available online regarding the general quality of these boats. If anyone has knowledge to share with regards to the shipyard and general reputation of the brand it will be very much appreciated.

More speicfically the boat I am looking at, the Alliage 50

Sorry, still no boat. I have looked at Onvi 395, but it had not been properly looked after and was quite "tired".

Also surprised by the small fuel tanks in the Ovni´s. 250 litres won't get you far.

How about you, any boats on the horizon?

I sold my OVNI 43 and I'm looking for a bigger and newer.
I am also interested in Alliage 44 or 50 and I'd like to meet someone with direct experience

How was your experience with the Ovni 43. Any major flaws? Any impression on price vs. quality on the Ovni´s?

Thank you,

Andreas

You were right to reject that boat, at least if you want to travel far with ease. Our 46-foot boat's fuel tanks hold nearly 2000 litres. That's excessive for short trips, but if you want total flexibility and peace of mind to go off the beaten track, it's really nice to have.

Our boat has a pilothouse, which means that we have tons of room for fuel, water, etc, below. Of course if your living space is entirely below deck, as in an Ovni, there's no place to put so much fuel.

You can see pictures of our boat, including the engine room, here:

By the way, you are soooo right to for such a boat (alloy). Just be sure to get a boat with a hull that's not painted (I doubt that Alliage would gladly paint one of their boats, but of course some people do insist...).
