Back in search mode ...

Long story short, I put some $ down on a new boat, and got screwed as the deal fell through after the factory decided not to honor my contract. Fortunately, I got my deposit back, but I'm now back to searching for new hole in the water to throw money into.

I've decided this time to buy used, so that opens things up a bit. Looking for a high end, comfortable, day sailor / occasional coastal cruiser maybe as far as Bahamas. Under 40'. Priorities would be quality, comfort, performance, low maintenance (ie minimal teak), in that order. Money not really an object as I was ready to spend a large chunk on a new boat but for context, I would like to keep it under $250K total for used when refit with new electronics, sails or whatever. Ideas ???

Think Tartan 365 like. Not a big fan of Beneteau etc. mass production boats. This will only be my third sailboat, but I know they are all compromises. Really just looking for ideas of boats to keep an eye out for. Something you've owned or sailed on that might fit the above criteria.

Thanks in advance for your input and happy memorial day.

Hard to go wrong with a Catalina. If you want something a bit more special and seaworthy, Alubat is my shortlist for mid to high end sailing.

Aluminum takes some special care though.

Never heard of Alubat. Very interesting. Need to do some more research on aluminum hulls. Really like the ovni 370 layout. Thanks !

You’re almost describing something like a J105

For sure it fits the performance and low maintenance aspect but not what I would refer to as comfortable.

Not sure I would want to sail that to the Bahama's from here. (Charleston).
What's it cost ?
