Batteries and Refits or 37 Irwin Ketch

Battery replacements for the 4 current ones I have. They are (2) 12 volt and (2) 6 volt golf cart batteries. Any suggestions...not cheap but not wasteful either.

Next has anyone ever refitted a Irwin 37 ketch to a sloop???????

any help appreciated..John

Don't know anyone personally to have done this, but have seen one listed for sale that had been converted.

Why would ya want to ?? I and others feel the smaller sails are a GOOD thing! And the combos ya can use with a ketch are very usefull for easy sailng! Just my 2 cents

I have been refitting my Irwin 37 sloop for 4 years now, Its in the water but stil has a way to go. Anyways convert buy removing the mizzen mast and running a new back stay .... that's it. The main mast position is the same on both and the the boom length and layout is the same on both the sloop and the ketch. What year is yours, the bow sprit will make a difference.

Sounds like your in good shape then, before you get rid of the mizzen just sail for a year without using it to see if you want to go without it. I don't think there are any pros but might be some neg's as you loose some sail area. I believe mast height is the same on both too. Mine is a 1981 which was sunk at the dock. Complete refit, engine, bullheads, tanks ..... electric everything.

I most likely will. I got mine for a steal. Older couple trading in for a RV.
