Beneteau 393

Hi All

Just buying a Beneteau 393 2002.
Can anyone confirm when and if the cables and pulleys of the wheel steering system should be serviced or greased?

cheers

Nice boat. It is wise to lubricate the cables and idler wheels annually with a good spray of Boeshield T-9 although access can be somewhat awkward. You can also lift the binnacle compass to inspect the wheel gears/chain and give them a rub with water proof grease occasionally as well.

FWIW...

Re: Beneteau 393

Definitely inspect the chain on a new to you boat. Also gives you the opportunity to inspect the pedestal mount for the sprocket and bearing, which is cast aluminum and susceptible to corrosion.

If you’re voyaging far it’s not s bad idea to pull the cable and chain and make up a spare. Cheap insurance.
