Beneteau closing their South Carolina plant after 30 years

The only news article I could find. No official statement from Groupe Beneteau.

MARION, S.C. (WPDE) — As the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect businesses across South Carolina, another business announced it will be closing its doors for good. The Beneteau Boat plant has been a staple in Marion for over 30 years and in two months it will leave a number of people in Marion County out of work.

One of those people is Leroy Graves, who has been with the plant for 31 years.

"It's not about the money, it's not about the prestige, I had someplace where I can go to work," says Graves.

However, on Tuesday morning that all changed when the plant announced their last day will be on September 15th.

Graves looked back at the memories and what he was able to accomplish with the company.

"I don't want Beneteau to go away. It almost made me cry yesterday to hear them tell me because I know what it has done for me and my family," said Graves "They have raised four of my children, sent my wife to college, and I'm still doing good. I'm hurting, I am really hurting."

Frederick Gause is the owner of Fred's Barbershop in downtown Marion and says a lot of his business comes from the boat plant. He believes the community will be hurt by the announcement even if they don't realize it right away.

"My heart goes out but it's gonna be felt. I can't even really put into words how I am feeling now but it's defiantly gonna impact this community" says Gause.

The company has been manufacturing boats for over 130 years and also specializes in yachts.

The market for sailboats in the US has been going downhill for years

Mercedes Benz is also altering their production in Alabama. Don't make what people aren't buying! With Beneteau closing SC plant they may have more to send on Neoline:https://www.neoline.eu/en/#

Tracks perfectly with RC model airplanes.
They both require more effort than Xbox
Cheers
