No offense, but that is simply not possible.

Honey, it is on my boat....

I checked it through out that year. Last time I had a diver replace the prop zinc which was awhile ago, he said the bottom looked pretty good.

Then you have the magic bottom paint that everybody's been looking for. In 18 years and 20,000+ hull cleanings here in the Bay Area, I have never seen any paint that had zero fouling after 3 months, much less fourteen.

Now if you tell me you made repeated trips to the Delta during that time, I might believe that your bottom stayed relatively clean. Otherwise- not so much.

Re: Best place to haulout for bottom paint between Fl and CA?

Good lord, why would I lie???. I did take a 2 or 3 two week trips to the delta in 2010. But most of the time the boat was in Richmond. Doing short trips to china camp or sausalito, or bouncing around the bay. Was it brand new clean after 6 months... probably not, But if there was any growth on it, it fluffed off while sailing. Was not any I saw or felt anyway...

One thing is for sure. I've not had a diver clean it in 3 year now. Other then cleaning of the water line, because the boot stripe is touching the water, and maybe twice a year this last year where i cleaned the upper 2-3 feet of the hull, I've been pretty happy with my magic paint.

Like I said it does have some soft growth on it now, but most still fluffs off even today after a long sail. Oh the paint on the water line is starting to go, a few spots at the bow where the old bottom paint is showing through, though still no hard stuff.

I'm thinking it might need repainting next year after 4 years.

Besides you want to see aggressive bottom growth go to southern florida in the summer. The bay is not at all in that league.

Maybe it only works for blondes

BTW sorry for the thread drift again.....

Cute blonde, likes to sail, owns her own boat, and Rides motorcycles.

Pretty much the perfect woman.

Adding magic paint is just mean.

Sorry, didn't mean to infer that. But the fact is that there is no product that keeps a bottom as clean as seem to indicate, for as long as you seem to indicate. I look at boat bottoms in the East Bay Area every single day. Anti fouling paints just don't work like that.

Well my boat must be an encrusted wreak then. Though I have sailed 65 miles in the last week. And it really has been three years since the last bottom job.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. Enjoy. I'm done...

I'm a bit argumentative.... Sounds better that way than that B word. (Hint not blonde the other B word)

Plus I have a grumpy cat.....

OK enough fun on this thread. Time to move over to another......

That's a feature not a bug, and "they all do that"
