Best way to clean stainless steel freshwater ranks

These tanks hold 135 galons of freshwater. I dont want to put any clorox or anything abrasive because i use this water to flush my watermaker as well. Any advice. Thanks

So what dirt is there in them? Or are they contaminated?

About bleach: any residue after rinsing will evaporate out of the water in a couple of days, plus you have a carbon block filter on that flush line, right?

Citric acid is often used to clean calcium deposits. Bleach or hydrogen peroxide for decontamination.

I just learned that dishwasher tablets, crumbled and dissolved in hot water are even better but for large tanks not easy to flush out I think.

A worker put 80 gals of diesel into my 200 gal stainless steel water tanks. I tried a lot of remedies (simple green, dawn, alcohol, and a few others). The one that worked was hot water pressure washer (boiling hot water from a commercial unit). I had the water tested by a commercial lab including for hydrocarbons. There were no issues present.

I would use the solution you use to pickle water maker. It is deigned to clean beer and soft drink pipes.
