This one really hurts to pass on and I doubt it's going to be available for long.
Unfortunately, no telling what his storage fees are going to be.
A bigger problem might be the logistics. The yard owner needs to file against the boat in order to title it in his name. Otherwise, it is still owned by the owner who is in jail.

With it's beam over 12 feet and the current price of fuel and permits would cost in the neighborhood of $20-$25K to move it to San Diego, Ca. I know there is one on Sailboat listings for $60K

And this, folks, is why people use brokers. You don't have to deal with members of the public or boat owners with attitude.

Full disclosure, my bank account doesn't have enough in it to buy this boat.

Sailboat data does not have a Fiji 48, but a Fuji 45 by John Alden, first built in 1976. Decent numbers. Tons of tankage.

https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/fuji-45

This has the potential to be a good full time liveaboard.

I agree there are challenges with the title. Yet I would talk to the yard owner, he is motivated to get that boat gone and I suspect he has done this a time or two.

His wife probably told him to get rid of the boat or else. So he priced it 400% higher and wrote the attitude description to keep people away.

It is a Fuji 45

I wasn't very careful with the onboard equipment inventory, but this should be a fair price for that boat. NADA Guides would only go back to 1975. I dunno, maybe he did actually use gold instead of lead in his keel.

The owner has confused replacement value in a survey with the actual value.

Yes, will be available for a long time.

I Like this one. Good sails and good engine? That's one I'd look at.

Like said earlier...he probably wants to keep the boat and his wife wants him to sell.
