So basically he's saying that he doesn't want someone that's dreamed about a boat like that to view it??? A good percentage of people that are looking for a sailboat are dreamers. I know that I'm chasing my personal dream.
Yeah, you have to kiss a lot of frogs, buyers and sellers!

40' Peterson Sailboat 1980 - $5,000 (Newport Beach CA)
Really have to wonder what's not being said here? Scrap value for the metal must be close to $5K.

Definitely a head-turner, and certainly small and narrow interior. It looks a bit like a tunnel on the inside...

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

1978 Pearson 365 $25K USD. Ft. Pierce, Florida. Canadian-owned.

No good photos, so I was a bit hesitant to post this. Probably genuine, a lot of Canadians have had to change their cruising plans.

Buyer beware. Not a Canadian phone area code but in Maine.

Not just Canadians, unfortunately...

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

I wonder if what is happening or going to happen, might be more boats coming up for sell in the near future due to cancelled cruising plans, due to Covid?

Usually the ones I see are above "our" price range.

Probably will cause people to sell, for the familys finances. But then what if you need a boat to escape society? How can you sail off to a deserted island without a boat. I'm joking but the streets are full of traffic and the stores are packed, this economy seems to be going gang busters right now. As much as it's ever been.

Reminds me of when I was looking for a house. Even traveling far from the metro areas alll I could find in my price range were extreme projects. Some so bad I had to run away. And my sights were set low too.

Yep. One thing I have learned - if you contact some boatyards (when they're not busy) you can ask if they know of any neglected boats that may be for sale (although the owner may not know it yet). They'll know what you mean.

Occasionally persistence pays off. Especially if you can bring the owner to the boat for the first time in a few years and s/he might come to his/her senses if they actually see what a mess it is.

Also, walking around boatyards when people are working on their boats. They'll often be quite helpful in pointing out possibilities. No-one likes to see a boat without a caring or capable owner.

And if were I working on the boat cussing and swearing I might be glad to see you.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

This 1971 Allied Seawind is in Port Charlotte, Florida, ad is from Waterloo, Ontario. What's the story?

No price, but this should be well under $30K USD. If everything is in good order, $15-20K USD should be about right.

Not much of an ad, and no price? Some people have no idea how to sell anything (but the guy has lots of stuff for sale on the same site...)

This may be another story if the boat has been left unattended in Florida storage for 2 winters...

P.S. There is a nicer looking 1983 Whitby 42 in Green Cove Springs from a Canadian owner in Toronto but he's asking $69K...now that's a good cruising boat.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

1974 Morgan O/I 33 sold from Peterborough, Ontario (NE of Toronto). $34K CAD (~$26K US).

Peterborough is on the Trent-Severn Canal - sailboats cannot transit with mast up, so the boat may be anywhere from Lake Ontario to Georgian Bay

Yanmar diesel (presumably repowered at some time). Overall it seems well-cared for and clean.

But...the esthetics are, well, weird. I've never seen one of these 2 inch deep sinks that take up a whole countertop in a boat. That seems nuts for use underway (or even when getting waked in a marina). I suppose you could use a plastic bowl but why? What's in the space underneath?

The owner of the boat has obviously taken great care to do some very interesting woodwork, perhaps practical for lots of storage. But...

And the owls...might be a bit overwhelming...

The mast paint is peeling inside the boat. Wrapping it in carpet is one solution (!).

Outside, the paint job is, again, a bit odd. Not screamingly so, it could be fixed relatively cheaply.

Ad critique: You get 10 free photos with Kijiji, and unlimited words - I don't know why people don't use them!
