Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

Wow, that prop walk must have been something horrible to install a bow thruster on a 30 foot boat!

Good example of this classic small cruiser in very good condition. The ad says it was the last one made and is a freshwater boat.

The price is top of the range for this size/type, but it looks to have been maintained and upgraded very well. It has a bow thruster - these boats don't back up well otherwise.

This is the 32C version of this cutter with the extended bowsprit giving more sail area. I am not sure if it's got the longer mast though.

Less than 4 foot draft.

We have a very similar boat and backing out of the slip even with no wind is fairly horrible. It can be done, but must be done slowly, pulsing reverse.
If there's a strong wind, the bow blows off making it even more complicated.
These boats have large high bow platforms and two sails on furlers so the windage is high.

We also need a riding sail when at anchor on a windy day for the same reason. Without it the boat tacks about once every three minutes!

Raising the waterline? Or is it a hurricane strategy?

Heck, not a lot of cleaning to do! They already arranged to soak it well.

Skill issue.

The biggest challenge of sailing a Bayfield 32C is backing up, because the awful prop walk brings your bow to starboard, and the sailboat is difficult to control. It’s just the nature of the boat .
Add one to the ruination and you will find every docking almost to easy.

This one is advertsed as a project boat which definitely seems accurate. But an Islander 36 for $2000 is pretty good.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

Although I hate to shamelessly self plug my boat, I've got a 1966 Buchan 37' listed here:

https://www.popsells.com/cruising-sa...-oregon-389664

She's a fun fast boat, but I bought a new (2019) 45-footer. Listed at $25K, I think she qualifies for this thread.

Overall, she's in pretty fair shape, but desperately needs a new mainsail. Oh, if the prop walk was bad on the 1989 Bayfield 32C cutter mentioned earlier, try backing up with the prop aft of the rudder —no prop wash to assist!

It is a buyer's market, so I hope I do not loose too much, but I can't afford two boats scattered across Oregon.

Nice looking boat!
I don't want to "register" with the website to see the photos, though.
Can you put the ad on the Cruisers Forum Classifieds?

I will see what I can do this evening. Unfortunately, the PDF brochure is too large to attach. If you DM me with your email, I can send you the attached PDF and photo zip file. That is if you are comfortable downloading files from a unknown source (I wouldn't be).

No don't worry about that. It's just idle curiosity on my part...
It would be worth putting your boat on CF anyway!
