From the pics, seems like a pretty nice boat.
My guess is it is on craigslist because no brokerage wanted it.

Welcome to the boats under 30k thread. Where you'll find hundreds of Craigslist boat posts.

On a side note, I know nothing about the boat in the listing, just felt it met criteria.

Ya...until the market goes flat, then they are your best friend.

Yeah. I think the founder of the thread was interested in highlighting boats that would be worth buying. Those Good Old Boats with a few years left in them.

My personal criteria are decent cruising boats, in decent shape, that do not require major work. I try not to post project boats, as there are so many of them, and they are a TRAP! (Ask me how I know, lol).

About brokers - they may not even take a boat that is below $30K. I can't say I blame them. There's an example in our boatyard - the owner is deceased, boat hasn't been launched in 10 years, old 38 foot Hughes with 6' draft and Atomic 4 gas engine in the bilge. Listed with a broker but asking too much, imo. So there it sits, accumulating bills for the estate.

Here's an Islander 36 in SF Bay asking $9K. Doesn't look neglected. I am not fond of inboard gas engnes, but some are:

Here's an Islander 36 for $999 OBO. These are very popular in SF Bay.

It is obviously a liability to the owner at present. Classic 70's cruiser. Classic dilemma.

If it's the original engine, it might need $15-20K of work to make a $15-20K boat. But if you're mechanically inclined and can find a cheap place to store it...

That toyota diesel is actually cheap to work on if you get the Hanes manual and turn your own wrenches .
Parts are not to expensive through your local automotive parts store.
It's a toyota pathfinder .
Bet the big issue is injectors are really dirty.

I kinda liked those. Skeg rudder, beamy, full aft sections. Many popular boats adopted those features.
