Yes, the Garcia website has a lot of technical information that is very helpful. The Alubat , Ovni are also good design yachts. These are mostly aluminum and so are more expensive , generally, because they’re all Essentially one off- no mold as in glass.
Most seem to be in France. A big advantage to a centerboard or lift keel is because the tidal range along the French Atlantic coast is 25 to 30’ swing.
They beach them to do bottom work, remove barnacles and remain level until the tide floats them off. I think a larger Centerboarder requires a metal construction.
I haven’t seen many over Ep’ stateside. Vancouver seems to have them .
The larger Centerboarder has the ballast in the hull Below the waterline so that when sailing the major advantage is you can hold a course higher in the wind ( prevents side slip). For this reason most have a bowthruster to manage in shallows and with crosswinds when making a berth .
The ballast in the hull reduces the weight in the centerboard and this reduces the requirement of the lifting mechanism.
I would shorten sail as I do for a fixed keel in any storm conditions.
All the best

Little harbor made some centerboard models.
But really, go to

http://www.phrfne.org/page/handicapping/base_handicaps

And do a search for cb. You will find about 87 models. Most over 30 feet.

Why is Southerly not mentioned here?

Relatedly, maybe also check out some of the bilge-keel designs that seem to be most-popular around the UK.

Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 349, 410 offer lifting keel.
Probably better to go with shallow draft version - very small difference.

What are the drawbacks to keel and centerboard boat? Does the centerboard require a lot of maintenance?

I've sailed on a Wauquiez 38 with a swing keel. Very solid boat.

In addition to what's already been mentioned, Sirius' can be built with a swing keel or bilge keel.

My 58 foot Camper & Nicholson has a swing CB. Draft 6’-8” to 13’.

Our cruising friend’s Shipman 63 has a hydraulic lifting keel.

The mechanical infrastructure gets big, unwieldy, expensive and somewhat unreliable on big boats.

Our 1985 Kaufman 47 has a swing keel. 4'10" up to 7' down. I suppose it makes a difference on longer voyages, but for day sailing I see no advantage, although it's an advantage for shallow Bahamian waters. The swing keel is raised via a cockpit winch. The line runs across the cabin top to a block and then vertically through a SS tube into the bilge. We just replaced the SS tube. It was original and was showing corrosion below the water line.

I replied to this thread 3 years ago and forgot to mention our Moonbeam. 46 feet. Centerboard, about 800 pounds of bronze.

5’10” up, 10’ down. Makes quite a difference sailing. Hand operated hydraulic pump to raise the board, gravity to lower it.

The original Charlie Morgan designed 38 has a CB.
