An old thread!

I spent an afternoon once in Tallinn harbour helping someone try to fix an electrical problem on one of these, crawling all through the boat and all its technical spaces.

I thought it was the poorest built large sailing yacht I had ever seen. Clearly Groupe Beneteau style of build, but semi custom built so without any of the ingenious production techniques GB use, and custom building is not their thing. It looked cobbled together by amateurs, and the owner had had nothing but problems with it. The wiring was a nightmare.

Maybe this one example wasn't representative, but . . . it's not something i would ever consider nonetheless. You'll pay quite a bit more for something proper like an Oyster or Discovery, but you get what you pay for.

Or, if you must have something both large AND cheap, look at something like a Hanse 57. Rather than semi-custom, this is actually produced on a line using mass production techniques, and is much better built.

Cushion me soft . . . . rock me in billowy drowse,
Dash me with amorous wet . . . . I can repay you."

Re: Bordeaux 60 - The Matter of Affection

Hi All,

I'm in the market for a 65 footer mono. What are your thoughts on the Maxi Dolphin 65? How do they compare to CNB 60 etc?

Appreciate your feedback.
