Congratulations you have got a great little boat. But I may be a little bias, I sail #1184, have had her for three years now.

Re: Buying an Albin Vega Tomorrow

Just uploaded the pics onto my profile. Sailed / motored her over to the home berth, and my oh my, she is one well-mannered lady. My girlfriend fell in love with her almost immediately, especially since there is standing room and a toilet inside! ;D

We are now having the last remnants of the hurricane Katia over here, winds gusting up to "gasp" 40kts, so just made sure my new mistress is secured and snug in her berth.

Only thing missing is a name... She is presently called "Matilda", but not corraborated by any markings on the hull. The owner before the previous one called her "Red Baron" due to the red hull, but I think that's too masculine. I might change her to "Baroness" or "Red Baroness" though. Or just "Red".

Re: Buying an Albin Vega Tomorrow

We called our last boat, which had a very bright red hull "Rosey", and our new to us boat which just also happens to be an Albin Vega - with a white hull - will be renamed "Miss Isle"

She's been on the hard since purchase so getting keen to get her on the water and have a play!

Re: Buying an Albin Vega Tomorrow

We are about to go cruising in our Vega, excellent and tough sailing boat. There is a guy soloing around the Americas in one right now. Solo Around the America's Under Sail | An audacious attempt at sailing the Northwest Passage and circumnavigating entirety of both continents, to benefit Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating

There are a couple of Vega message boards that are great resources.

Main Problems:
1. Mast compression (alreayd done on yours)
2. Stem fitting not the strongest
3. Windows can bust out in seas
