Buying first Sailboat

I have sold my 25 foot powerboat and will buy a sailboat this spring. Currently taking hard look at Roberts 25 vs MacGregor X or M. With the Mac. I could still go 20 miles off Ucluelet for my halibuts but not crucial. Any feedback much appreciated

Welcome to the forum. The Roberts must be a home built. Got to watch out with what you're getting there. The Mac, well...not a great build there either. Any reason you're restricting yourself to those 2 designs?

I've been looking at several Fiberglass Roberts 36s & 38s myself, yes most are home builds, but they appear more solidly built than a lot of production boats would be.

Re: Buying first Sailboat

I have chosen those 2 out of a hundred that I looked at as they seem to be the best option. I live on the east coast of Vancouver Island and fishing is generally poor but the other side of the island is still incredible so would like ability to trailer over on occasion. The Roberts is a home built and the owner took 4 yrs. to build it and it has never been in the salt chuck. Thanks for feedback!
