Depends what capacity the Surveyor is working in whether he is a good one or not) If he is doing a survey for a insurance company ( such as Caribbean Surveyors) he is not working in the best intrest of boat owner ( he is showing a fudicuary relationship with insurance company to save them money)
If he is doing a survey for a new boat owner he is showing the fidicuary relationship to that person who is paying him. Also depending on the experiance of surveyor his opinion can be very subjective. Finally there is no national or state exams that are manitory for them to complete. They do pay to belong to differant organization to be accredited through.
