c&c 39

We are considering the purchase of a C&C 39 centre cockpit. Does anyone have an opinion as to whether this boat is capable of offshore sailing. We want to sail her for a few seasons on the great lakes then take her to the carribean. Informed opinions are appreciated. Pierre

Re: c&c 39

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Pierre.

IMHO, the C&C 39 is capable of everything you describe, which is not exactly offshore passagemaking. For longer voyages, the tankage might be a little slim. Otherwise, like most C&C's, they're fine boats.

Re: c&c 39

Oops - you probably meant the “Landfall” 39; C&C’s version of a “cruiser”.

Re: c&c 39

Thanks and yes I did mean the landfall. The tankage on this 1986 is as follows:
Fuel 1 - 32 gal and 1 - 40 gallon

Water - 106 gal

There are 2 - 32 gallon holding tanks.

She is currently having repairs to resolve crazing around the hatches and the deck is being redone. The asking price is 89,900. Any thoughts?

Re: c&c 39

$89k seems to be towards the high end, for these boats; which does not preclude this example from consideration. She may be worth that price, or something near.
I think the stated fuel tankage may be more than was originally provided, and would certainly be more than adequate for Caribbean cruising, as would the water.

Thanks so much Gord. We will likely make an offer for her and see where things go once we have the survey done. I really appreciate your help and info, especially the links. I am a newby to this forum but am very happy to have signed up. Fair winds,
