Re: Cal 34 Cabin Window Upgrades

Checked it out. I appreciate it, but at this point, I'm not going to Mexico. I already flew to Mazatlan after being lied to about a boat's condition and specs, so I'm not going back and don't want to burn up any more cash by going out of MDR/Oxnard/SD. If the Cal 34 doesn't work out, I'll stick around here until I find something. Thanks for the heads up though.

Re: Cal 34 Cabin Window Upgrades

How did the survey on the Cal 34 turn out?

The boat was infested with termites. There were a few other issues that could have been resolved but the termites was a deal breaker for me.

One thing I've noticed about most boat "bargains".... there always seems to be an issue.... There's an aluminum 33 footer up here in the PNW for $14k and a fiberglass, offshore equipped 33 footer for $10k. I imagine you are not ready to sail one down though!

Go see the 1976 Tartan 37 in Oxnard. It's on the hard right now getting the CB replaced, but it's fully set up and ready to cruise. I went and looked at it, twice. It's in amazing shape, if you don't mind purple... It's been so well maintained it's scary, she even has stainless ports.

Seriously, it's the best of the pre 1985 boats I've seen. I have no affiliation with it other than an appreciation for a well loved boat.

Re: Cal 34 Cabin Window Upgrades

Yeah I've considered that one. Not into the purple and the rose and lettering is all painted. Plus it has a centerboard. It crosses my mind every once in a while.

Thanks everyone for your interest in my progress. I've been a little reluctant to post since I've had two reprimands for breaking rules. It wasn't intentional and I guess if I regain interest in participating I'll read the rules carefully and try to tow the line better, but for now I think I'll just lay low and switch to lurk mode.
