Can Someone Identify this Boat?

I am looking at purchasing a boat a boat but the seller is uncertain on the manufacturer... I suppose the plates and logos have been removed.. Before I waste anymore time proceeding with the purchase I would like to know what kind of boat it is so I can see if it will accommodate my needs.. By the way, I think the boat was willed to the seller, which is why the seller knows so little. I attached a few photos, if anyone knows anything more I would appreciate the info.. The boat is a 1984 22' ft swing keel... That is all I know at this point. Thanks ahead!

It's not a Dolphin...what are the letters and numbers in the HIN. These include the manufactur's code, SN and date code. The HIN is the boats VIN number so to speak and should be molded into the top right hand corner of the transom.

Looks like the previous owner didn't know the make either as he didn't name the make in the title. BTW - Registration expired in 2006.

I did a title search at the Texas Parks and Wildlife here - Texas Parks & Wildlife Department | Fishing & Boating and got the attached.

However the plot thickens.

I googled the HIN "GBX220130A83" and got one hit on a forum from 2004. Looks like the guys brother was asking about the boat.

Looks like it's a Rhodes 22.

[Rhodes22-list] Are You On 'Da List'?

I then located the Rhodes 22 owners list that the above thread came from. Click on the archives and you can probably learn a lot about this boat type.

Rhodes22-list Info Page

Good Luck!

Gotta love Al Gore's interweb...

And my super secret CIA training but now that you all know that about me you gotta start looking over your shoulders...

BTW - It's a nice looking boat. For the right price it could be a ton of fun and a great learning platform.

LOL.. The boat has a furling jib, 6hp, re-covered cushions and a trailer.. The guy is asking a little under 5.. I am new to the sport, received a few certificates last summer and trying to get in the water on my own... It looks like a good buy and from what I can tell the boat looks to be well taken care of.. I think I will go take a look at it, hopefully his brother doesn't show up at the same time

Good advice, but about 4 years too late!

Jim

I never even paid attention to the date. I had seen the same ad doing research on my own Rhodes 22 that I thought I was really helping.

I just got a FREE Rhodes 22 from Bone Yard Boats that may take a year or so to make sailable
